Phase Pound – Drever-Hall Technique
Conoptics manufactures a line of laser accessories for laser modulation, driver electronics, beam deflectors, noise reduction and optical isolators. Conoptics manufactures a complete line of Electro-Optic Modulation Phase Modulation Systems designed to work specifically with Pound Drever-Hall.
The Pound-Drever Hall (PDH) technique applies FM spectroscopy to detect the resonances of an optical cavity by demodulating the beam reflected from it. Often, this technique forms part of a control system that regulates a laser’s frequency to match the cavity’s resonance condition.
In this method, phase-modulated light, consisting of a carrier frequency and two sidebands well outside the FWHM of the cavity, is directed onto a two-mirror cavity. W
When light reflects off the cavity, a high-speed photodetector measures the reflected signal, which includes the two unaltered sidebands as well as a phase-shifted carrier component. Subsequently, this light is mixed down with a phase-shifted local oscillator and low-pass filtered, thereby enhancing the measurement accuracy.
As a result, the electronic readout signal provides a clear measure of how far the laser carrier is from resonance with the cavity. Furthermore, Conoptics manufactures a complete line of Phase Modulators and drivers specifically designed to work effectively with the PDH technique. By integrating these advanced components, users can not only optimize their experimental setups but also achieve more reliable and consistent results. Additionally, the versatility of these modulators ensures compatibility with various applications, making them an excellent choice for researchers in the field. Thus, by choosing Conoptics, customers can enhance their systems’ performance and accuracy.
By integrating these components, users can optimize their systems for enhanced performance.
